Reitz Memorial High School began this semester with the announcement of the pending retirement of our principal, D. Mare Williams. Dr. Williams asked us to begin the search for a new principal because of her wish to retire. The process of hiring the principal is a combined effort with the Catholic Schools Office and my office, with input from representatives of our Board of Trustees.
The national search initially attracted over 20 applicants from six states (Ohio, Georgia, Florida, California, Missouri and Indiana.) We narrowed the field of candidates and after interviews we felt we had not identified the next principal to lead Memorial to the next level of excellence. This search will continue until we find the person we believe will best serve as our principal in the years ahead.
In the meantime, D. Williams will continue to serve as principal with some additional support and reduced responsibilities as long as necessary, and she is able. Plans are being developed to ensure that we continue providing "a Christ - centered Catholic community which educates all students to their highest potential by developing religious values, providing excellence in education, and fostering a commitment to service."
