Life Skills Program

Life Skills Program

The Life Skills Program serves students with cognitive disabilities that provide inclusive learning environments with individualized instruction. The individualized instruction will include courses that provide students with opportunities to develop math, reading, writing, organization, independent living and pre-vocational skills that support the student’s ability to apply skills and talents that will promote an independent life style. The independent living courses include one-on-one teacher/student instruction and small group hands-on lab application activities. The pre-vocational courses teach job skills with one-on-one teacher/student instruction and provide work study opportunities within Mater Dei and Reitz Memorial High School’s campus, as well as the community. Extra-Curricular Activities will be introduced and student involvement will be highly encouraged according to each student’s talents and preference.

Reitz Memorial High School has hired a licensed BA/MA degreed Special Education teacher to develop individualized learning plans, create course curriculum to meet student learning style needs, and provide students with opportunities to participate in a work study program that promotes job skills, both on and off of school campus.
